Developing a blog

Posted on 12.07.2009 03:52 am

I am sick and tired of large bloated CMS or blog systems. Wordpress I'm looking at you.

I've been a fan of the idea that people who are smarter than you should do their smart work for you. And I tried my best to apply that to the current blogging systems out there. So I said enough is enough. I'll make my own.

But Ólafur? This has been done a 1000 times before!

"I don't care" I say. So I set a few ground rules down while I develop my own blogging... thing.

1. The site must be simple and focus on the content. Not pretty things!
2. It must be faster than Wiley Coyote. That fool can never catch me.
3. It must work on all major browsers.
4. A feature is only implimented if it passes these rules
4a. It does not slow down load time of pages by a large amount.
4b. It does not increase the memory allocation by a large amount.
4c.It serves a general purpose (no fluff features)

In my case, I prefer plain html, but, I have to say that i like the simplicity of this site too.

Aye nothing beats plain html and I totally agree with that. But there must be some sort of middle ground between plain html and blog engine insanity.
